Jeff Cohen, Managing Partner and Co-CEO
Jeff Cohen is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. During a career spanning more than 8 years with an International Fortune 50 company he earned five promotions and received the prestigious “Executive of the Year” award. Jeff’s creativity, interpersonal skills and phenomenal leadership abilities led to a 63% increase in his region which resulted in his election to the executive committee.
Seeking an opportunity to make a greater impact, Jeff co-Founded Rice Cohen International in 1989 and grew it to become one of the 30 largest and fastest growing retained executive search firms in North America. Jeff is nationally recognized as an award-winning search professional specializing in the IT Staffing, Outsourcing and Professional Services industries. He has successfully placed top talent in executive management, sales, marketing and operations roles for hundreds of clients ranging from boutique firms to Fortune 100 corporations. Jeff is trained and certified in Behavior-Based Interviewing as well as Executive Coaching and Spin Selling™.
Jeff has been recognized by Recruiter.com as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the History of the Staffing Industry” and is a frequent keynote speaker at leading industry events including NAPS, Top Echelon, IPA, ASA and others. He is co-founder of Rice Cohen Training, the largest training and consulting company specializing in the recruiting industry, and created the best-selling video series “Secrets To Success In The Search Business!” and, “25 Common Traits of The Big Billers”. His business has expanded to include consulting services in which Jeff advises clients on strategic business issues such as integration, team building, assessment & selection, and compensation strategy.
Jeff resides in Newtown, PA with his wife and two sons and is active member in the community. He enjoys coaching youth sports programs and volunteers his time by participating charity events. Jeff is also a volunteer board member for the Plant a Seed Inspire a Dream Foundation, a Bucks County based charity that provides children from low income families, between the ages of 10 and 18, with the opportunity to pursue their passions while interacting with positive role models.
Douglas De Almo, Partner
Douglas De Almo comes from a background of both law and human resources. Before entering the executive search industry, he practiced corporate law internally for a Fortune 100 insurance company and the world’s largest lottery and gaming operator. He then entered private practice, where he concentrated on mergers and acquisitions, employment law and non-profits. He also spent two years working internally in the human resources department of a Fortune 100 company.
At Rice Cohen International, Doug is a Partner who specializes in C-level searches in the training and education space. Most recently, he has placed several C-level positions including the Chief Commercial Officer for a leadership development company, the Chief Sales Officer for an executive communication company, and the Senior Vice President of Sales for a human capital research company.
In addition to his duties as an executive recruiter, Doug serves as General Counsel and a Board Member of Plant-A-Seed Inspire a Dream Foundation. PAS is a non-profit organization, which strives to ensure that underprivileged children are able to pursue their hobby or passion, despite their financial hardships. He also volunteers his time to local youth baseball leagues.
Doug received his law degree from Boston College Law School and is an active member of the Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania bars. Prior to that, he graduated from the University of Maryland with degrees in Economics and Political Science, as well as a minor in Spanish.
Makenzie Lauren, Partner
Makenzie joined RCI in 2004 as a Research Assistant. After four successive promotions and over 100 successful senior level placements, she began leading Rice Cohen’s Internal Performance Improvement Practice. Makenzie is responsible for leading the team that works in the internal HR/Learning/Talent space. This group places individuals in HR and Talent and Learning positions within Fortune 1000 organizations. Her team has led the completion of searches for Chief HR Officers, Chief Learning Officers, and other internal positions in OD, Learning, and training solutions
In her spare time, Makenzie values giving back to the community. She is the Treasurer for the Plant a Seed Inspire a Dream Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides underprivileged children with the opportunity to pursue their passions while interacting with positive role models. She is also involved with a number of other local non-profits.
Makenzie has been specializing in the Human Resources and Talent/Learning space since for the past 8 years. She is certified in behavior-based interviewing, and has used that knowledge, along with RCI’s 25 Step Search and Selection Process to fill a range of positions in this space – from mid level to ‘C’ level. She completed her B.S. in Finance graduating Summa Cum Laude from Drexel University and stayed at Drexel to receive a Masters in Business Administration
Gene Rice, Managing Partner and Co-CEO
Gene Rice spent 10 years with an International Fortune 50 company where he was promoted six times and received three consecutive honors as “Executive of the Year.” In his last position Gene led East Coast operations and held management responsibility for seven locations and a staff of more than 500.
In 1989 Gene co-Founded Rice Cohen International and grew it to become one of the 30 largest retained executive search firms in North America as reported by Executive Recruiter News. Gene is an internationally recognized executive search professional specializing in the placement of top senior executives in the human capital consulting, corporate training, human resources and professional services industries. He is trained and certified in Behavior-Based Interviewing and Executive Coaching. Over the course of his career has placed over 154 CEO, COO, President, and Board-level executives. Gene has personally completed over 100 Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President of Sales searches, and his team has placed more than 300 Partner, Practice Lead and Senior Executive Consultants in the Talent Management and Human Capital Consulting verticals and over 500 Business Developers.

Gene is an active member in the community and volunteers his time by coaching AAU basketball; he has also created a summer internship program at RCI for local college students to take part in and expand their corporate skills. He has always believed in giving back and has been involved with Habitat for Humanity, as well as Make a Wish Foundation, where he served on the board. After volunteering for more than 15 years with these and other various charities, Gene and his wife Michele founded the Plant a Seed Inspire a Dream Foundation in 2008. This 501(c)(3) non-profit organization provides children from low income families, between the ages of 10 and 18, with the opportunity to pursue their passions while interacting with positive role models. Since the foundation’s inception in 2008, over 600 children have received financial scholarships across the country. These scholarships resulted in piano lessons by a Julliard trained pianist, baseball and hockey lessons, horseback riding lessons, Taekwon-Do classes, and dance classes, among many others. One young woman attended a prestigious art program, and another with a passion for writing music was connected with a music industry executive to record her own CD.
