Our History
Gene Rice and Jeff Cohen began working in the search industry in 1989 as part of a worldwide search and staffing organization that included over 700 locations. During this time their office was recognized as the “Office of the Year” for an impressive seven consecutive years. As their knowledge, experience and success grew they began taking on more senior and executive level projects eventually breaking away to establish Rice Cohen International as an independently owned and operated search firm.

For four straight years Rice Cohen International was recognized as one of the largest search firms in North America and in 2000 celebrated their eleventh consecutive year of double-digit growth. That same year RCI was recognized as the “26th Largest Retained Executive Search Firm in the United States” as well as “One of the 5 Fastest Growing” by Executive Recruiter News. With this success came opportunity and in 2001, Gene and Jeff agreed to sell Rice Cohen International to a global business services organization.

Eager to share their success with others, Gene and Jeff created Rice Cohen Training and grew it to become the largest training and consulting company in North America specializing in training to the recruiting industry. Their dynamic and innovative training seminars earned them recognition as “Two of the most influential people in the history of the staffing industry”, by Recruiter.com (click here to learn more). Over the next two years Gene and Jeff traveled worldwide delivering multi-day training workshops and keynote speeches at leading industry events including national conventions for ASA, Top Echelon and NAPS.

Although enjoying the experience of giving back to the search industry, Gene and Jeff missed the “hands-on” recruiting piece and when an opportunity came in early 2003 to buy back Rice Cohen International they took advantage and began rebuilding the firm. Together they retooled and grew the business over 500% in 2004 and are on-track to double that performance again in 2005.
